Why Cincinnati West?

Cincinnati West Soccer Club is one of the fastest growing youth soccer clubs in the area because of our unique and strong focus on being team and family friendly while still meeting the soccer development needs of our players at all skill levels and ages.  As you can see from looking around our website, we have over 700 players learning the game of soccer, learning life lessons from the game and being involved with a team and program, and being better prepared for success as an adult. Our teams compete at all levels of the Cincinnati United Soccer League (CUSL) as well as the Buckeye Premier Youth Soccer League (BPYSL).  Many of our players find that the varied development and competitive levels offered by CWSC along with our experienced, nationally licensed training staff, including current and former college and high school coaches and players have well-equipped many our play for the “next level”.  CWSC players have a strong record of accomplishment at both the high school and college levels.  We are proud of every one of our players and teams, and we hope that you decide to join the CWSC family.

CWSC Player Training Priorities and Goals for 2010-2011 Soccer Year

For the 2010 fall and 2011 spring seasons, the following are the Training Priorities and Goals for all CWSC players and teams.  Our Training staff and coaches will be focused on these priorities during training sessions, player development and matches.

Technical Training Priorities

  1. Improve Possession:  the ability of players and team to collectively maintain possession by making it a high priority through combination play.

  1. Improve Speed of Play:  the ability of our players to make good and quick decisions, play 1 and 2 touch when needed and play effectively when under pressure of time and/or space.

  1. Improve our technical skills:  players use proper technique in game situations due to proper training focus and play with purpose. All training sessions are at least 50% technical skill-building training

Tactical Training Goals

  1. We defend as a team  -  every player defends and we defend to win possession.

  1. When our teams win possession in the defensive third, we maintain possession from defense thru the midfield to the forwards.

  1. We attack as a team.  We use possession and combination play to build our attacks and involve the midfield in the attack.

Recently, one of our Soccer Family, the Nienaber's were involved in a serious auto accident while on vacation in Florida.  Their van was rear-ended and the kids were all injured and have been admitted to the hospital.  The Nienaber family is a big part of CWSC and the entire family needs our thoughts and prayers.  Please join us in prayers and well wishes so that the power of CWSC can make a difference.
