Deciding on a club?  Please read about Ohio South's Players Right to Choose. Keep in mind Clubs cannot "Require that a player immediately commit to join that team, club or association of teams at the conclusion of the tryouts." (18.3.5).   You have time to look around, consider your options, attend other club tryouts and the right to choose your club and team, so come visit us at Cincinnati West Soccer Club to see what we have to offer.  You will be impressed.  With over 60 teams, join the over 700 other CWSC players and families that come back year after year to CWSC because of our player, team and family friendly philosophy.

Additional Notes for Tryouts

1. all sessions conducted at the CWSC Training Center at Cleves Community Park

2. for rain outs, Saturday 6/5 is the automatic rain date for any session

3. we will again use on line registration so that we should have player lists
ready to go.

4. U8-u14 players will get a t shirt this year with a number on the back and
must wear it both sessions.

5. REMINDER: THE AGE GROUPS ARE WHAT YOUR TEAM WILL BE NEXT FALL AND SPRING. SO
A U11 TEAM NOW WILL BE USING THE U12 AGE GROUP TIME ON THIS SCHEDULE

6. Playing rules / reminders:

Age group            playing on field (incl. keeper)               max allowed
on roster
u8 – u10                              6 v 6                                         10
u11 and u12                        8 v 8                                         14
u13 – u15                          11 v 11                                       18
u16 – u19                          11 v 11                                       22

7. Players playing up an age group. If you currently have a player on your
roster that is playing up on your team and that player wishes to continue on
your team, and you as the coach want that as well, the player should come to
your team's tryout schedule. All other players wishing to play up a year - new
or players who wish to tryout for a different team for next year - should come
to BOTH the correct age group tryout for their age and the age group sessions
for which they want to be considered.

8. All players selected to play up a year in age group must be approved to do so
by the Director of Coaching. This can be done in advance with current players
playing up, via email from the coach.

9. Age groups with multiple teams are strongly encouraged and expected to have a
pre-tryouts coaches meeting to discuss current rosters and player needs,
expectations and how tryouts player selection will proceed. The coach of the top
team is responsible for getting this meeting scheduled and organized, and
working with the DOC who will attend and assist in facilitating it.

10. PLAYER SELECTION BY TEAM ORDER: THE TEAM ORDER OF PLAYER SELECTION WILL BE
BASED ON THE FINAL STANDINGS OF THE CURRENT SPRING 2010 SEASON. Any disputes
will be determined by the Club President and DOC.

11. Remember that at CWSC, we encourage all of our players to be considered for
/ try out for the top team of their age group. However, all players are
permitted to decide to simply return to their current team if they choose to and
the coach selects them for the team.

12. Yes, all players who want to play for CWSC are expected to attend our club
tryouts. Anyone who cannot attend must notify the club administrator and DOC in
advance.

13. Current u14 teams (and high school teams):

- your team is still expected to participate this spring for next year as a u15
team. A few of our teams may wish to play late fall after the high school season
so this is the way to complete that roster. Even if you will only be
playing in the spring 2011 season, many of our teams use these upcoming tryouts
to complete their roster. You do not have to complete your roster during these
spring tryouts.
- We will have additional high school tryouts in November at the end of the high
school season that you can also add players.
- However, it is our experience that more and more players are looking to
finalize their team for next spring during these end of the year tryouts…. So
you should be ready for that fact. Players may be looking for commitments.

Why Cincinnati West Soccer Club next year:

Cincinnati West Soccer Club is one of the fastest growing youth soccer clubs in the area because of our unique and strong focus on being team and family friendly while still meeting the soccer development needs of our players at all skill levels and ages.  As you can see from looking around our website, we have over 700 players learning the game of soccer, learning life lessons from the game and being involved with a team and program, and being better prepared for success as an adult. Our teams compete at all levels of the Cincinnati United Soccer League (CUSL) as well as the Buckeye Premier Youth Soccer League (BPYSL).  Many of our players find that the varied development and competitive levels offered by CWSC along with our experienced, nationally licensed training staff, including current and former college and high school coaches and players have well-equipped many our play for the “next level”.  CWSC players have a strong record of accomplishment at both the high school and college levels.  We are proud of every one of our players and teams, and we hope that you decide to join the CWSC family.

What to expect at our tryouts:

The Director of Coaching and the CWSC training staff run tryouts with our CWSC coaches assisting and evaluating players at the appropriate age group.  While players are encouraged to compete vigorously and do their best, the staff and coaches make the ‘tryout atmosphere’ as relaxed as possible so players are comfortable.  The Director of Coaching, our training staff and coaches all collaborate to evaluate each player, with the specific age group coaches putting together the rosters with input from the Director of Coaching.  Coaches will notify all players, inviting players on teams within the next week after the final tryout session for each age group. We will attempt to place all players at our tryouts on a team in CWSC.

The goal of the club is to develop players to their fullest potential and desire.  Each player will be placed in an environment to maximize learning and development. This means that player movement between teams is encouraged, because at different stages of their development, players will benefit from different levels of speed and intensity in regards to training.  It is important that players train and compete against other players of like focus and ability to ensure a proper rate of individual player and team development. However, CWSC does not force players to move up to the next level team should they be selected to do so through the tryout process.  The decision to move forward to a higher level team is totally up to the player and her/his parents. Regardless of placement, every CWSC player receives appropriate training based upon his or her developmental needs.

For any questions about our tryouts, contact our Director of Coaching, Bill Spraul, at billspraul@zoomtown.com
